Der schwedische Pilger
Die erste Widmung geht an Linus, den schwedischen Pilger. And I will have to continue this in English *g*
Camino Santiago, April 2003, Burgos
I was totally fed up with everything and only wanted to travel home again as quickly as possible. It had not been possible to get on a Eurolines coach the same day, I had to spend the night here and the coach was to depart no sooner than 9pm the next day. The "albergue" was closed, too, so I just sat on a bench in front of it. At least the rain had stopped by now and I could unfold my sleeping back to dry it on the other bench, hoping the sun would make it through the clouds.
Minutes later you, Linus, showed up. At first I was annoyed, didn't want company and didn't want to share my bad mood either. But after we had introduced ourselves I soon realized you wouldn't try and involve me in any stupid brainless small-talk, but just sit there with me in silence. After a while you got your discman out of your bag and offered me one side of the earphones:"It's Loreena McKennitt. You know her?" That broke all the ice I had built up so far. We finally got to talk, and it was a very pleasant conversation. We spend the evening in Burgos, going for dinner and strolled through the streets.
The next day, I just don't know how I could've possibly killed all these endless hours without you. We spend nearly the whole day in this really nice coffee bar, listening to music, working on your role play concept, sharing our thoughts to... just everything. When we got on our coaches - different ones - I was quite sad to leave; yep, I had a little crush on you until then. We met two times again, on motorway service areas. Back home, we even managed to send some emails to each other. But then ... it stopped. As it always stops, when the real life just ... catches up. The last I know is that you planned to go to China. The CDs you gave me are still two of my favourites. These few hours with you, a mere day, were very valuable for me. Our conversations as well as our silence still echoe in my head and soul from time to time. I wish you all the best for whichever road you travel on at the moment. And in the future.
